The Fall 2024 Cohorts are a transformative space for Asian American women of faith to grow alongside one another in a safe environment. Each session will consist of a large group teaching followed by small group processing.

PART 1: THE SELF

For Asian American women, it can be easy to fall into the trap of always putting on a brave face and pushing through challenges without allowing ourselves to fully process our emotions and grief. Vulnerability can be difficult because of societal and cultural expectations. What does it mean to truly be vulnerable? It means being able to grieve and mourn our losses, to share our pain with our sisters, and find healing. It means breaking free from societal expectations and stereotypes and embracing our true selves, flaws and all. In part 1 of THS cohort, we will have the chance to explore inner healing and what it means for us as Asian American women. We will learn how to break free from the “strong woman” stereotype and embrace vulnerability as a source of strength and resilience.

PART 2: THE CULTURE

So often Asian American women feel the pressure to conform to something other than who they are in their Christian journeys. But is there space in the presence of God for Asian American women to bring their full selves? The good news is a resounding “Yes!” The two sessions with Julie Yeeun Kim will center Asian American Christian women uniquely as such — women followers of Jesus Christ who navigate the complexities of racial, ethnic, cultural, and gendered identities.

PART 3: THE ACTIVATION

How can authentic faith be expressed through Asian American women? In today's time, spiritual activation can be mistaken to be the same as being seen and heard. We can also unknowingly strive for it by imitating others instead of becoming more like Christ. It is time for Asian American women to boldly steward her God-given gifts while beholding Jesus, instead of succumbing to imposter syndrome and societal pressure.
